ESTECH Conference and Training Course FAQs

Are any of the events available virtually? ESTECH Conference functions are only offered for in-person attendees, including the networking, conference sessions, and Working Group meetings.  The education training classes will be offered as hybrid and can be taken virtually.

Will IEST Working Group meetings be held during the conference? Working Group meetings will occur in-person the week of ESTECH. Training course attendees and three-day conference session attendees all receive access to attend Working Group meetings. 

Is there an expo this year? Yes. Attendees will have an opportunity to connect with colleagues and exhibitors during all events being held in the expo hall.  ESTECH is the ideal platform for building new business relationships and finding out more about exhibitor products and services.  Learn more here.

What are the networking opportunities? As an in-person attendee, there are many ways to connect with attendees and exhibitors during the conference. Opportunities include our Presidential Welcome Reception, ESTECH After Hours, Breakfast with the Exhibitors, Awards and Membership Luncheon, and Mix and Mingle: Networking & Dessert. See who has signed up to attend so far. This page will be periodically updated starting in March.

Will conference sessions be recorded to access later? No, conference sessions will not be recorded currently. The presentation notes will be available to purchase after the conference is over. Details on how to purchase and access will be available in May.

How can I access the conference session presentation notes? If you registered for the conference sessions, you will have access to download the presentations for a limited time. Details on how to access the presentations will be emailed to you the week before the conference.

Is there a dress code for the conference? No, but please make sure what you wear is appropriate for learning and networking.

Can I follow the conference on social media? Yes. The official event hashtag is #ESTECH24. Use it to follow what attendees are saying and share top takeaways with other professionals. Tag IEST using our respective handles: @IEST_standards for Twitter; @iest_standards for Instagram; and @InstituteofEnvironmentalScienceIEST for Facebook and LinkedIn.

Which training format should I sign up for? Virtual or in-person?
Virtual training and in-person training have benefits for both options see below for which one you may find works best for you.

Virtual training benefits

  • Less expensive due to no travel costs
  • You will not need to take time away from your office and home life

In-person training benefits

  • Opportunity to network with other professionals in an in-person setting
  • Less distractions for learning

Training Courses: How will I receive my course materials for the training courses I registered for? The week before classes start, you will receive an email from IEST with a PDF of the course material. If there are any technical documents associated with your class, you will receive an email from Techstreet to access and download those documents. You will need to create a user name and password on the Techstreet IEST Bookstore webpage to access the documents. Please make sure to use the same email as the email you used to register for the class. Also, all in-person training course attendees will receive access to the recordings of the training courses after the conference. They will not be available for purchase, however.

Virtual Training: What is the time zone for the virtual training courses? All meeting times are listed in Pacific Time. Click here to view a time zone converter.

Virtual Training: What platform will be used for the virtual training courses, and how do I receive the system requirements? The training classes will be hosted on the Webex platform. When you join an event you can either download the Webex app or join through your browser. You can also go to iest.webex.com and enter the meeting number displayed on the event webpage. View more details on how to join one of the events. During the events, you are encouraged to use your webcam to participate in open networking before each session begins. View the system requirements for your computer.

Virtual Training: How will I receive access to the virtual training courses I registered for? The week before classes start you will receive an email from Webex with a link to access the classes for which you have registered. You will also receive an email directly from IEST with directions and the same information. 

Virtual Training: Will virtual training courses be recorded to access later? Yes, the classes will be recorded. You will receive an email after the conference when they are available.

Virtual Training: Is there an attendee code of conduct for virtual training courses? Yes. Please read the IEST Virtual Meetings and Training Code of Conduct to ensure the best experience for all attendees. 

What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation requests received 60 days or more prior to the start of the event will receive a full refund LESS a $75 administration fee. Cancellation requests received 30-59 days prior to the start of the event will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests received less than 30 days prior to the start of the event. Virtual training courses: No refunds for any reason will be issued after course instructions and materials have been sent to attendees. Registrations are transferable to another person for the same event. A $35 transfer fee applies. Transfer of a member registration to a nonmember registration will be charged the difference in fees. IEST reserves the right to charge a 5% administrative fee on additional transactions arising from customer order errors and a $40 fee for non-sufficient fund checks or credit card charge claims in error.
