IEST Involvement in ISO
IEST, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit technical society, is the foremost organization addressing issues connected with contamination control. IEST is an ANSI-accredited standards-developing organization; Secretariat of ISO/TC 209 Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments; Administrator of the ANSI-accredited US TAG to ISO/TC 209; and a founding member of the ANSI-accredited US TAG to ISO/TC 229 Nanotechnologies.
A standard is a document that provides requirements, specifications, guidelines, or characteristics that can be used consistently to ensure that materials, products, processes, and services are fit for their purpose. ISO Standards ensure that products and services are safe, reliable, and of good quality. For business, they are strategic tools, that reduce costs by minimizing waste and errors, and increasing productivity.

US TAG to ISO/TC 209
Are you a subject matter expert? Join us in reviewing and developing the ISO 14644 Series Standards. In the United States, IEST is the administrator of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group 209 (ISO/TC 209). U.S. TAG members review and debate the merits of the ISO/TC 209 standards and prepare the U.S. voting position. Experts are also needed to attend the international ISO working group meetings. Outside of the US, please contact the ISO Member Body in your country to get involved.
Contact IEST's Director of Technical Programs and Standards, Jennifer Sklena, for further information on providing valuable volunteer service to your country and industry. To learn more about the US TAG to ISO/TC 209, and review the application, click here.
