Modern Practices in Intermediate Vibration Testing

Vibration testing is rapidly evolving to meet the challenges of today’s larger and more complex systems. The purpose of this course is to offer a comprehensive familiarization with leading edge issues and best practices in vibration during all phases of the system development. Moving beyond the basics to more complex and realistic vibration scenarios, the student will interact with the instructor and fellow students to maximize understanding of leading concepts in fatigue theory, requirements development, advanced test techniques (including multi-axis and synergistic testing), and vibration test management.

Although the course is technical in nature, the material is taught without excessive math. The focus of the course is to give individuals practical insights into how to develop and execute a well-structured vibration program that serves as a basis for making sound technical and business decisions. Numerous “how to” examples and vibration testing “traps or pitfalls” will be discussed in class. During an extensive case study, the students will participate in a detailed practical exercise designed to demonstrate the development and execution of a complex vibration test program.

Systems Approach to Vibration Testing

This one day course provides an overview of the systems approach to providing the “right” vibration testing to product development. Designed for testing and program managers, as well as test engineers, the class will cover requirement development, the role of test engineering in system development, and risk avoidance using vibration. Topics include: vibration testing in Life Cycle Development; using vibration testing in systems development; use of synergistic environments in risk reduction; use of vibration test artifacts during product development; and advanced vibration techniques and their role in systems testing.

Spectral Analysis

The course provides in-depth instruction on spectral analysis in the context of dynamic signals. Geared toward the practicing test engineer and advanced technician, the class will cover the history and motivation of spectral analysis, time history signal classification, stationary and non-stationary stochastic process, and filtering, among other topics.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Transfers: Registrations are transferable to another person for the same event. A $35 transfer fee applies. Transfer of a member registration to a nonmember registration will be charged the difference in fees. 

Cancellations: Cancellation requests received 60 days or more prior to the start of the event will receive a full refund LESS a $75 administration fee. Cancellation requests received 30-59 days prior to the start of the event will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests received less than 30 days prior to the start of the event. IEST reserves the right to cancel course(s), in which case registrants will receive a refund of the fee. IEST is not responsible for any refund or remuneration for hotel, transportation, additional registration fees, tours, or other expenses related to attendance beyond the registration fee refund.
