IEST is the leading technical, nonprofit membership association that connects professionals who impact controlled environments. We give you technical guidance through International Standards, Recommended Practices, and education programs developed by experts in the fields of contamination control, environmental test and reliability, and nanotechnology facilities. 

Organization
Founded in 1953, IEST is a multidisciplinary, international society with members who are internationally recognized for their contributions to the environmental sciences in the areas of contamination control/cleanrooms, environmental test and reliability, or nanotechnology facilities.  Our 501(c)(3) not-for-profit technical society is an ANSI-accredited standards-developing organization; Secretariat of ISO/TC 209 Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments; Administrator of the ANSI-accredited US TAG to ISO/TC 209; and a founding member of the ANSI-accredited US TAG to ISO/TC 229 Nanotechnologies.

Mission
To globally expand and communicate the knowledge of contamination control, nanotechnology facilities, environmental test, and product reliability.  This is accomplished through the development of Recommended Practices and Standards by a community dedicated to professional collaboration, training, and education.

To advance the knowledge of the environmental sciences and technology community by sharing our recognized global expertise in cleanrooms and controlled environments

Long-Range Goals

The long-range goals encompass the vision and mission, and provide the direction that IEST will pursue to support the strategic plan.  

Goal: Branding, Awareness, and Recognition
Establish IEST as a leading global resource by raising awareness of our organization, services, and products and increasing corporate support through enhanced marketing and increased social media presence, strategically expanding and evolving based on industry changes and geographical needs. 

Goal: Content Creation and Knowledge Sharing
Establish IEST as an industry leader through training, conferences, resources, and publications by developing and delivering content that is high quality, timely, and relevant to members and other industry professionals at all stages of their careers.

Goal: Leadership Engagement and Membership Development
Establish IEST as a prominent and highly regarded professional organization by growing membership and increasing engagement with existing members and other industry professionals through initiatives that connect them with pertinent opportunities (as attendees, working group members, leaders, volunteers, speakers , committee members, etc.). 

Goal: Optimal Organizational Effectiveness
Maximize IEST’s organizational effectiveness through structures and systems that support the strategic direction, weaving technology into all elements for enhanced process improvement.
