We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all in-person event participants and staff. In-person attendees, volunteers, and instructors along with IEST staff must abide by all local, state, federal, and U.S. Centers for Disease Control guidelines regarding COVID-19 to protect against the spread of the virus.

To ensure the safest environment possible, IEST is implementing the following safety protocols (subject to change depending on environment at the time of our meetings and potential changes to recommendations by the CDC, local, state, or federal guidelines):

All attendees: All attendees are required to wear a face mask (no gaiters. bandanas, or masks with valves) indoors or outdoors when six-feet of distance can not be maintained regardless of vaccination status or negative COVID-19 PCR test. Masks can be removed indoors only when seated and actively eating or drinking.

Vaccinated attendees

  • Please provide proof of vaccination (onsite at the registration desk); a photograph of your vaccination card will be acceptable.
  • You may wear a wristband of your choice to indicate your contact preference:
    • Green: Hugs and Handshakes
    • Yellow: Elbows Only
    • Red: No Contact, Let’s Wave Hello

Unvaccinated attendees

  • Please provide proof (onsite at the registration desk) of a negative COVID-19 PCR test conducted within 72 hours prior to arrival at an IEST event; a photograph of your negative COVID-19 PCR test will be acceptable.  If you test positive, you may attend the event online, if available, or receive a refund.
  • Wear a red wristband indicating that participants should wave hello and avoid close contact.

All attendees

  • You may not attend an in-person IEST event if you are experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID-19, or if you’ve experienced any symptoms within 12 days prior to the event.
    • Symptoms include:
      • Fever over 100 degrees
      • Sore throat
      • New loss of taste or smell
      • Cough
      • Chills
      • Congestion or runny nose
      • Muscle or body aches
      • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
      • Fatigue
      • Nausea or vomiting
      • Diarrhea
    • You may not attend in-person if you have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 within the last 14 days (this includes vaccinated attendees) or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are not yet cleared as non-contagious by state or local public health authorities or the health care team responsible for your treatment.
    • If you find out you have been exposed to someone with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case or have symptoms associated with COVID-19 after you have registered, please contact IEST to switch to a virtual registration.
    • In-person conference attendees need to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and are asked to contact IEST at customerservice@iest.org if they experience symptoms within 10 days after participating in an in-person IEST event.
    • Regularly and thoroughly wash or sanitize their hands throughout the day.
    • Observe social distancing guidelines based upon the wristband system.

IEST will continue to assess evolving public health guidelines regarding large gathering settings and will keep all participants updated as we get closer to the event.

To assist with safety protocols:

  • Disposable masks will be available at the registration desk.
  • Disinfecting wipes will be available.
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be positioned throughout the event.
  • IEST will have a touchless thermometer available onsite to check attendees’ daily temperatures if requested or if necessary.

We encourage all participants to review government guidance, as guidelines are frequently updated, to make informed choices about travel and onsite engagement. By attending the event in-person, you understand that refusal to adhere to these policies and abide by these precautions may result in immediate removal from the event and cancellation of your registration without refund.
