Nomination Guidelines

Unless otherwise stated, both IEST members and non-members are eligible to be recommended for a technical award. Recommendations are most appropriately made by the related Technical Committee or Division, but may be made by a chapter or individual as well. Only IEST members may submit nominations. To submit an online award recommendation, visit the Members Only area of the website.

The individual or group making the recommendation is responsible for providing the Honors and Awards Chairman with a properly worded citation to accompany the award. This citation should be very specific in identifying the technical achievements or contributions for which the nominee is being considered. VAGUE AND GENERALIZED DESCRIPTIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. There should be no doubt left by the citation as to why the award was made. In addition, since the citation will be inscribed on a plaque, the wording should be as precise and to the point as possible, without sacrificing necessary information.

As a general rule, award recommendations must be submitted to the Honors and Awards Chairman by January 15 of the year in which the award will be presented.
