“Reverberant Chamber Enhancement,” by Daniel Hayes, has just been posted in the Journal VIP Articles section of our website. This paper examines High Intensity Acoustic Testing (HIAT) using the Direct Field Acoustic Testing (DFAT) method to expose test articles, such as spacecraft, to high sound pressure levels. The author discusses his efforts to augment a reverberant chamber with DFAT technology at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), as well as his tests to determine whether DFAT components could fully replace chamber components inside the actual chamber, or if DFAT components could work together with chamber components.
